Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. Although there remains just a dab of unresolved oak on the nose of Patrice Rion’s Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées, it has very fine delineation and intensity with perfumed wild strawberry, blackberry and iodine scents that nudge it stylistically towards Amoureuses. The palate is medium-bodied with fine and very supple tannins. The acidity is well judged and there is impressive “matiére” on the finish that fans out with real panache.
