Tasting notes
As with the BMT, the 2017 Syrah OGT is the same blend and vineyard makeup as the 2018 and is 100% Syrah that's 50% Colson Canyon, 25% Thompson, and 25% Tensley. Straight-up incredible notes of blackberries, raspberries, violets, incense, spiced meats, and bacon fat literally soar from the glass, and it's reminiscent of a Côte Rôtie from the likes of Guigal, yet on steroids. Deep, full-bodied, and powerful, it nevertheless stays light and graceful on the palate, with a seamless texture and ripe tannins. Beautifully polished, full-bodied, seamless, and long, it's awesome stuff.

The 2017 Syrah OGT is dense, powerful and explosive. A rush of inky blue/purplish fruit, spice, lavender, graphite and menthol builds in this potent, virile Syrah. The OGT is the most tannic and structured of Tensley's 2017s, but it has plenty of the vintage's lushness and appeal as well.
Bottled only in magnum, the deep ruby-purple colored 2017 Syrah OGT features scents of boysenberry, red and black cherry jam, dark chocolate, coffee and licorice with pencil shavings, fried herbs and meaty notions. Full-bodied and intense in the mouth, it has lots of latent savory notions buried under the puppy dog fruit, with firm, youthfully chewy tannins and bold freshness, finishing long and layered. This needs more time in bottle.
