Tasting notes
This is the only 1er cru from Lignier that was hit by the July hail storm and that extra level of concentration and intensity shines through in this, their flagship 1er cru of Morey St Denis. There is great terroir transparency with this wine, very much more on spicy mineral Morey style. Nice complexity on the palate with a multi-layered texture and a beguiling cool earthy freshness as well as a vibrant juicy red berry fruitiness that sits above the underlying minerality

Barrel sample. Hailed. This is ‘more Clos des Ormes’ rather than ‘more me’. Light cherry red. A dusty red-fruit fragrance. Tangy wild cherries, really wild. Tight and mineral on the palate, sinewy and incredibly long, athletic. Great tension and very fine tannic texture and freshness. A slightly ascetic style and delicious with it. (JH)
