Score 92/100 · Robert Parker, Apr 1994

The tiny Clos La Neore consists of 3.6 acres of ancient vines in Sancerre's most prestigious vineyard, Mont Damnes. In what was an excessively abundant year, Vatan's old vines produced just over two tons per acre. The 1992 possesses a profound bouquet of flint, wet stones, and gorgeously understated, super-ripe, honeyed, herb, fig, and melony fruit. The secret to this wine's great success is its outstanding richness allied with zesty, crisp acidity, and loads of power, as well as a sense of lightness and delicacy. This is an extraordinarily well-focused, complex Sancerre for drinking over the next several years. Importer: Weygandt-Metzler Importing, Unionville, PA.
