It’s already evident on the nose that this bottling offers astonishing fresh-fruit concentration for a Riesling of BA must weight, specifically of grapefruit, lime and strawberry, which are wreathed in a greenhouse-like aura of flowers and foliage. Oily and rich in the mouth yet animatingly bright, it finishes with blazing penetration, mouthwateringly salt-tinged and lent invigoration by nips of crystallized ginger.

The 2017 Riesling Ürziger Würzgarten Auslese *** (Golden Capsule) is a very intense and concentrated yet pure and fruity Auslese provided with refreshing crunchy, herbal and iron-rich, clayey slate aromas. This displays perfect botrytis on a bright, pure, fresh and delicate bouquet full of ripe stone and citrus fruits as well as notes of crushed stones. It is fascinatingly fresh and salty-piquant on the palate, with pronounced acidity; this is a sweet but weightless Auslese with acidity that cuts through fruit and slate and tickles the tongue. This is a highly stimulating and crystalline Auslese that is impossible to spit out. Simply amazing! Tasted at the domain in April 2019.
About the producer
Markus Molitor is now among the largest privately owned wine estates in the Mosel and also one of the best. With a focus on single-vineyard expressions, the estate produces between 80 and 90 different wines each vintage.
