Tasting notes
The 2014 St Joseph Blanc les Oliviers comes from a single vineyard located just outside of Mauves, in the southern part of the St Joseph appellation. Year in, year out one of my favorite whites from the region, this beauty has terrific intensity and richness, yet stays balanced and lively on the palate. Buttered citrus, white flowers, hints of minerality and riper tropical notes all emerge from this medium to full-bodied white that has more depth than most in the vintage. Drink bottles anytime over the coming decade or more.

Light, bright yellow. Poached pear, white peach, honey and lemon pith on the intensely perfumed, mineral-accented nose. Pliant, deeply concentrated pit and citrus fruit and honeysuckle flavors are complemented by hints of succulent herbs and fennel; bitter quinine adds back-end cut. Closes with powerful punch and serious persistence, leaving behind a note of candied citrus fruits. This bottling has an admirable track record for cellaring.
