Light, shimmering straw. Ripe pit fruits, lemon pith, beeswax and chamomile on the deeply perfumed nose, along with suggestions of honey and anise. Pliant and broad on the palate, featuring pear nectar, yellow peach and Meyer lemon flavors that become livelier on the back half. A smoky mineral note builds steadily on the energetic finish, which leaves a hint of bitter pear skin behind.

Less rich than the 2018, but perhaps a little zestier, the 2017 Hermitage Blanc is still a full-bodied, honeyed wine, with ripe notes of pear, melon and a touch of pineapple. A dash of white pepper on the long finish perks things up even further.
