Based on Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc, the 2016 Don Maximiano Founder’s Reserve sports a deep ruby/ruby hue as well as impressive notes of blackcurrants, cedary herbs, lead pencil, and subtle background oak. Beautifully balanced on the palate, with medium to full-bodied richness, it has nicely integrated acidity, fine tannins, and a great finish. Drink this beautifully elegant, balanced red over the coming 10-15 years.

From Aconcagua, this blend of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Malbec, 8% Petit Verdot, 8% Carménère and 3% Franc spent 22 months in 85% new oak. 13.5% alcohol. The fragrant nose contains cassis and fresh mint as well as oak and a complex mix of new woody notes. Juicy on the palate, with a medium complexion, the tannins are polished. This is a well-rounded wine.

The 2016 Don Maximiano Founder's Reserve is a blend of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, with smaller amounts of Malbec, Carmenère and Cabernet Franc from their estate vineyards in Panquehue. It fermented in stainless steel vats and matured in French oak barrels (65% new) for 22 months. It's an ultra classical Aconcagua Cabernet-based blend with good ripeness while keeping the freshness, and it has generous oak that does not overwhelm but makes the wine softer and spicier. It has some fine-grained, slightly dusty tannins. The very classical label is very coherent with an updated classical blend. 78,000 bottles produced. It was bottled between February and April 2018 in three homogeneous lots.
