Porro's 2013 Barolo Gianetto is quite pretty. Orange peel, cinnamon, spice and dried flowers give the Gianetto a decidedly exotic feel. Medium in body and gracious, with a lovely sense of translucency, the 2013 is nicely done and undeniably attractive. It is also the most pliant and accessible of Porro's 2013s.

From the south-west part of Lazzarito in Serralunga d’Alba, but fresher than the normale Lazzarito because of a higher component of sand here. Lustrous ruby with orange tinges. Peppery and a little tight on the nose. Lush cherry fruit with a charge of proper Serralunga tannins and wonderfully integrated acidity. Firm finish. Generous without being heavy. (WS)
