Tasting notes
Bright dark red. Very ripe aromas of cherry pit, black raspberry and dark chocolate. Ripe, sweet and fine-grained, with firm, nicely integrated acidity, but a bit youthfully medicinal and brooding today and not yet showing its inherent complexity. The mineral-tinged finish displays excellent energy and length as well as an element of austerity.

The 2016 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes was only slightly touched by the frost this year. It has a fragrant bouquet with Morello cherries, crushed raspberry and touches of loam developing with time. The palate is lively on the entry. This has great tension and more energy that some of Etienne Grivots' Nuits-Saint-Georges, plenty of red berry fruit with quite a mineral-driven finish that leaves the tongue tingling. This comes recommended.
