Tasting notes
While you’d expect a cult wine like this to be over the top and a monster of a wine, the reality couldn’t be further from the truth – the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is classic Napa power tempered by elegance, class, and balance. A dense (although not completely opaque) purple color gives way to a gorgeous bouquet of red and black currants, dried spices, toasted bread, violets, and lead pencil notes, with more tobacco and even a touch of forest floor coming through with time in the glass. With the sweet fruit character of the 2015 vintage in spades, it’s full-bodied and has a wonderful sense of balance and elegance, ripe yet present tannins, and no hard edges. A kiss of background oak is going to slowly integrate over the coming decade, and this beauty should have 30-40 years of overall longevity. It’s an incredible wine in every sense.

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Kayli Morgan Vineyard has a medium garnet-purple color and is a little closed to begin, giving up red and black currants, violets, lilacs and spice box plus chocolate-covered coffee beans, menthol, tilled soil and cardamom. The palate is full-bodied, concentrated and built like a brick house, with loads of floral sparks and a very long, mineral-laced finish. Through the roof.
