Unseasonably warm spring followed by consistently warm summer days. A bit of struck match on the nose. Very mellow and charming, with delicacy. Still very lively. Long and energetic. Really exciting! (JR)

Scented of cheese rind, lemon peel and toast to begin, the 2014 Chardonnay slowly opens on the nose to reveal white peaches, citrus blossoms, herbs and oyster shell. The palate is tangy, citrusy and mineral driven with fantastic energy and freshness, finishing long.
Lemon rind, honey blossom, flint and lilac aromas follow through to a medium body. Tight and focused. Compressed and bright. So reserved and pretty. Lovely energy. Drink or hold.
The 2014 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard is dense, powerful and exotic. Candied lemon peel, apricot, butter and honey endow the 2014 with a decidedly opulent, flamboyant character and notable oiliness. The 2014 was done 80% in barrel and 20% in foudre , with about 20-25% new oak. That approach results in a Chardonnay built on structure and intensity. This is an especially pure, almost stark, expression of Hyde.
