Tasting notes
The classic 2016 Château Tayac comes from the team of Thomas Duclos and is 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and the balance Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, all aged a year in 40% new oak. Vivid notes of blueberries, black cherries, crushed flowers, and a subtle hint of minerality all emerge from this medium-bodied red that has a tight, focused, juicy style that will drink well for 10-15 years.

The wood has assertive sway on the nose for now, placing cedary aromas around bright red-berry aromas. The palate is neatly cradled in fine, firm tannins and has a very composed, tight-held finish for now. Try from 2021.
The 2016 Tayac is a gem of a Margaux, one with great potential. There are copious black cherries, violets and blueberry on the nose that could only come from Margaux. I cannot remember it being so pure at this stage. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, just a little puppy fat on the finish but long and sustained. What a gorgeous Tayac with huge potential. Maybe the best ever? Chapeau .
