Bright purple. Ripe blackberry, cherry cola and a hint of vanilla on the spice-accented nose. Appealingly sweet and nicely concentrated, offering an array of dark fruit and spice flavors that firm up steadily on the back half. Suggestions of succulent herbs and candied flowers appear on a long, lively finish that features bitter cherry and mocha nuances.

The black-cherry, warm-earth and delicate, smoky notes on the nose make this enticing. On the palate, there’s great balance between ripe and dry notes, the generous tannins polished and already well integrated. Long, silky and subtle finish. Drink or hold.

The value among the reds is the 2015 Selección Especial, a blend of 66% Tempranillo, 24% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Syrah and 2% Merlot, a blend decided through blind tastings, with fruit from the different plots of vineyard in the estate. It opened up spectacularly as it sat in the glass; it took some time to get focused, and some early lactic notes disappeared to give way to ripe fruit without excess, licorice and even a floral touch. It's nicely crafted and balanced, combining power and elegance. It kept developing and unfurling nice aromas as it sat in the glass, tangerine peel, tonka beans, sweet spices... Great complexity for the price. This is produced in great volume, as 399,000 bottles, 21,500 magnums and 900 double magnums were produced, which is remarkable for the quality.
