(from a normal crop of 41 hectoliters per hectare): Bright full red. Inviting aromas and flavors of raspberry, smoked meat and rose petal. At once gentle and energetic, with its silky texture enlivened by a sappy quality. Has the stuffing to support its ripe tannins on the persistent finish. Incidentally, Roumier just purchased these vines, which he had previously worked under a metayage arrangement with owner Jean-Pierre Mathieu.
All Mazoyères, quite high, written on the label. No frost in 2016. Barrel sample. Mid crimson. Light to mid intensity of perfume. Very rich fruit – dramatic! Masses of allure. Fine tannins underneath. (JR)
