2015 Levensohn Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Notes
Production levels in Napa don’t come much smaller than Levensohn’s Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate was producing just 25 cases from its inaugural 2004 vintage until 2011. As this single-vineyard site matured, production peaked at just 200 cases. Located a stone’s throw from some of Napa’s most prestigious vineyards – Dr. Crane and Las Piedras, this Saint Helena vineyard is hallowed ground. Following fire damage in 2020, the property was sold and these last few cases are all that remain of this short-lived but much valued Napa estate.

Containing a 5% splash of Merlot and aged 19 months in French oak (80% new), the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon has a deep garnet-purple color with vibrant notions of red and black currants, violets, blackberries and black cherries, plus a cinnamon toast and pencil shavings undercurrent. Medium to full-bodied, lively and purely fruited on the palate, it has a firm, grainy backbone and long finish of spicy layers. Oct 2017, www.robertparker.com
About the producer

Owned by Pascal and Melanie Levensohn, the estate was established in 2000. This small, 3.5-acre vineyard site was completely replanted in 2001 with Cabernet Sauvignon following a phylloxera outbreak. The first vintage was produced in 2004.
