2016 Vosne Romanee 1er Cru

The 2016 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru, which includes the parcels in Petits Monts and Chaumées with 20% whole bunch fruit, has a tightly wound bouquet that just seemed to miss the same luminosity as Felettig's other cuvées at the moment. This is much more withdrawn. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, crisp acidity, quite dense in the mouth but there is adequate freshness on the sorbet-like finish to see this through. Afford it four to five years in bottle.
