Tasting notes
50% whole-bunch fermentation. Redcurrant and cranberry giving a tart but enjoyable fruit style. The palate has an austere edge – not over-tannic, but quite reedy and unfleshy.

Including 55% whole bunch fruit and matured in 35% new oak from Chassin and Remond, the 2016 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru les Goulots has a tightly wound bouquet, more introverted than the La Perrière. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe tannin, red cherries and crushed strawberry that frame light tannins on the pure finish. It does not quite have the nerve of energy of the La Perrières and I suspect it will be the more forward of the two, once the aromatics awaken.
