Tasting notes
The 2012 Boca Il Rosso delle Donne (75% Nebbiolo, 20% Vespolina and 5% Uva Rara) offers immediate brightness and solid primary fruit. Black cherry and dried raspberry are followed by tangy elements of chopped herb and crushed granite stone. The mouthfeel is compact and a bit leaner than I would have expected.

75% Nebbiolo, 20% Vespolina, 5% Uva Rara. Mid ruby with the beginning of orange tinges. Lifted and a little rich on the nose. Ripe, red fruit and bags of grainy tannins. Lightness of touch combined with firm grip. Long and fascinating. (WS)
The 2012 Boca Castello Conti is a real stunner. Rich, lush and radiant, but in the deceptively medium-bodied style that is so typical of northern Piedmont reds, Conti's 2012 dazzles. The flavors are bright, precise and lifted by the wine’s aromatics and acidity, and yet the 2012 also has an extra kick of mid-palate depth that makes the wine shockingly accessible and just plain delicious. Conti's 2012 Boca is a fabulous choice for readers seeking immediate gratification and restaurants that aren’t able to cellar wines for years. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
