Voerzio's exquisitely beautiful 2014 Barolo Cerequio is understated, classy and gracious, and a terrific expression of Cerequio, whose principal signatures of bright red cherry, kirsch, mint and floral notes emerge over time. The 2014 is not an obvious wine, but rather a midweight Barolo built on nuance and finesse. Hints of orange peel, cinnamon and pomegranate are laced into the super-expressive finish.

Very perfumed with black cherries and dried flowers. Some orange peel, too. Full-bodied, round and very silky. Love the finish. A beauty. Wait and try in 2021.

Like its cousins from the other crus reviewed here, the 2014 Barolo Cerequio must be given ample time to open. Better yet, give it another ten years of cellar aging, if not more. The fruit is rigid, tonic and tight with very fine aromas of cassis, sour cherry, balsam herb and crushed river stone. This wine is tightly wound around itself, with fruit nuances locked into a tight core. The mouthfeel is lean and long with that same tension and tightness. We can count on this wine to gain in volume and complexity as time marches by. Jun 2018, www.robertparker.com
