Score 90+/100 · Drink 2022-2028, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2018

(made almost entirely from Maltroie Crets in 2016; 26 hectoliters per hectare produced): Pale yellow. Classic Chassagne aromas of pear, menthol, white flowers and minerals. Concentrated, juicy and tightly wound but showing more fruit in the mouth than on the nose, with lemon and lime flavors dominating. Sharply chiseled, intense wine with lovely grip and length, but not particularly pliant today and in need of patience.

(made from Maltroye-Crets in 2016): Less obviously ripe on the nose than the village wine, offering hints of lime, mint and anise. Tightly wound and slightly tart but not hard, showing good peppery lift to its lemon and lime fruit flavors. Not opulent or deep but finishes tactile and persistent.
