This is remarkably fresh and vibrant, so much so that it’s almost impossible to detect its ten years of age. Soft and supple, it possesses zesty acidity that invigorates its ripe wild berry fruit. There is simply so much energy here, even as the 2013 remains tight and structured through the finale, lingering incredibly long with inner rose-toned florals. In 2013, fruit from the Bassolino vineyard was added to the Vigneti di Versante. Collectors lucky enough to have this in their cellars should be smiling from ear to ear.

This wine will be released in the Spring of this year. The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Vigneti del Versante exhibits an immediate sense of depth and complexity. Winemaking saw minimal movement or pump-overs because Jan Hendrik Erbach tends to keep his wines in reduction for a long as possible in order to slow down their evolution. This is especially important in an immediate and accessible vintage like 2013. This expression is profound and precise with sharply etched aromas of wild berry, licorice, lavender and lightly roasted almond. Violets flood over the palate, backed by silky fine texture.
