Racked one week prior to my visit, the 2016 Saint Aubin 1er Cru Derrière Chez Edouard Rouge was showing a little more stem addition on the nose, though it works well, lending both freshness and vigor to the blackcurrant and cranberry fruit interlaced with sous-bois. The palate is vibrant with crunchy red brambly fruit, well-judged acidity, lace-like tannin and a tart, energetic finish. This has very good potential.
