Opaque ruby. Heady, spice-tinged blueberry, cola and violet scents show very good clarity and a hint of olive. Sweet and expansive on the palate, offering concentrated dark berry liqueur, salty olive and floral pastille flavors and a suggestion of licorice. The very long, sweet finish features an echo of juicy blue fruit and dusty tannins that come in late.

Cask sample. Tasted blind. Blackish ruby – much less blue than most of its peers. Candied flowers on a nose that is quite evolved and relaxed. Gentle hand on the tiller. Not one of the most ambitious but friendly and flattering. Early maturing. (JR)
