Fresh bramble fruit, juicy and crisp and smooth on the palate, if not especially complex. Enjoyably youthful crunch to the fruit – this has echoes of Beaujolais. (RH)

The 2015 Redoma is a field blend from old vines (70 years) aged for 20 months in old wooden vats (5,000 to 12,000 liters). It comes in at just 13% alcohol. This is a potentially great Redoma, showing fine fruit, freshness and perfect balance. The finish, which has a little tension, is very tasty and makes this wine seem gloriously alive. In its slightly understated way, it seems to be the best since the 2011. We'll see how the two do as they age. The freshness will preserve this well, even though it is on the lighter side, and it will acquire more complexity as it goes along. This may age better than expected, but let's start here for the moment. This will be approachable young, but that will not be its highest and best use.

Crisp, cedary citrus freshness. Rather subtle in its fruit character but with an attractive creamy/sour balance. Long and quince-like on the finish. Should age impressively. (JH)

Delightfully fragrant with herbs, grapefruit and fresh pear. Sour and herbal and alive on the palate. Zesty mineral aftertaste. (JH)
