What a striking contrast this wine makes with its Fahrlay Terrassen and Felsterrasse stablemates! Scents of lily- and mint-garlanded lime and strawberry that could have come from a classic Ürziger Würzgarten translate on the palate into an almost chiffon-like sense of subtly creamy and delicate fruit whipped together with inner-mouth floral perfume. Discreet fruit pit piquancy and an undertone of wet stone serve for counterpoint on a buoyant, lusciously lingering finish.

The 2016 Pündericher Marienburg Riesling "Raffes" has a deep, fresh and spicy-mineral bouquet with olive leaf and crushed mocha bean aromas. Full-bodied, round and super concentrated, this is a massive yet still elegant Riesling from vines that are up to 70 years old, with dense and lush fruit as well as firm tannins. Bottled in January; tasted in February 2018.
