Tasting notes
Medium deep purple. Fine spicy aromatics on the nose with a wealth of red fruit beneath. This has a really complex nose, with the stems nicely woven into the red fruit. The oak is very well balanced, an Amoureuses which displays grace and charm - and considerable persistence.

The 2016 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses ler Cru is blessed with a deliriously beautiful bouquet with pure red berry fruit, crushed stone and pressed rose petals. Astonishing focus. The palate is medium-bodied with filigree tannin, vivacious red berry fruit laced with minerals and a touch of piquancy on the perfectly formed finish that you might quibble, just misses a little length, although that will surely develop with continued bottle age. Wonderful. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.
Barrel sample. Down 50% in 2016 so the wine has extra richness. Wonderful intensity on the nose. Pure, high-toned fruit. Almost meaty. Fabulous pungency and satin texture. You could wallow in this tonight. Just amazing balanced and richness. Lift but very rich. Words fail me. This is the sort of wine all burgundy lovers seek.
