Inky colored, the 2015 Saint Joseph La Croix De Chabot is a fabulous effort that offers tons of granite influenced aromas of black raspberries, cassis, scorched earth and dried flowers. There's even a whiff of fresh ozone (the smell when rain hits hot pavement). Rich, full-bodied, concentrated and opulent, with gorgeous tannin, it’s a killer value! These wines are made via a collaboration between superstar Paris-based chef Yannick Alléno and Michel Chapoutier.

Another wine that offers incredible quality for a great price, the 2015 St Joseph La Croix de Chabot is primary and undeniably backwards, with black and blue fruits, hints of flowers and ample minerality. Like the La Couronne de Chabot cuvée, it has terrific depth of fruit and sweet tannin, all suggesting it will evolve nicely. I suspect it will be more approachable from bottle, but I still think short-term cellaring will be helpful.
