Fine and silky, this is more about the velvety tannins and driven acidity than sheer power or fruit, though that’s there aplenty. Mineral finish.

The 2017 Laforge was picked on 2 and 3 October with 13.1° alcohol. It has a pretty blueberry and blackberry scented bouquet with the new oak nicely integrated. I was surprised it was 80% new wood – it is barely noticeable. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, well judged acidity, a more elegant take on Laforge. Maybe the oak just pokes out towards the finish but that should be assimilated by the time it is bottled.
