Tasting notes
The 2017 La Tour de Bessan is a pretty wine graced with floral aromatics and soft red berry fruit, all done in a mid-weight style that is quite appealing. The 2017 is gracious and understated, just as it was from barrel. Drink it over the next handful of years.

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Tour de Bessan gives up vague scents of baked blackcurrants, stewed plums and boysenberries plus wafts of garrigue and tilled soil. Medium-bodied, soft and uncomplicated, it has a soft texture and pleasant spiciness to the finish.
The 2017 Tour de Bessan has a slightly smudged bouquet, but there is plenty of fruit here: mulberry, blackberry and a touch of cedar. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, a little pinched towards the mid-palate but fresh and with quite a persistent, oyster shell-tinged finish. Fine.
The 2017 La Tour de Bessan is soft, silky and open-knit, all qualities that will make it easy to drink upon release. Bright red cherry, raspberry and floral notes give the wine its lifted, gracious personality. This is a decidedly feminine Margaux with lovely balance and plenty of personality. Tasted two times.
