Some berries and dark chocolate with hazelnut undertones. Medium body, firm tannins and a medium finish.

Inky crimson. Dark cassis aroma, firm and really chewy but with some dark and full-flavoured black fruit on the palate. Firm dry tannins. Needs quite a bit of time but the wood is rather intrusive at the moment. (JH)

The 2017 La Croix St. Georges has a very floral bouquet with violets accompanying the cassis and black cherry fruit. This is quite “full on” for the vintage but there is modest delineation and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with noticeable wood tannins straight from the start. The dominating clusters on the finish leave the mouth demanding more fruité and flesh. It’s just a wine where I want to see more restraint and prudence.
