Score 88-90/100 · Neal Martin

The 2017 l’Aurage from deep clay soils in the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux and courtesy of the Mitjavile family, offers mulberry, red plum and a hint of marmalade and apricot jelly on the nose, very expressive with touches of liquorice developing in the glass. The palate is well balanced with grainy tannin, a little savory on the entry with fennel and sage notes, pretty red berry fruit with white pepper and sage again towards the finish. This should give several years of pleasure.
