Intense black fruit, slate and rich plums, as well as licorice, dark chocolate and plum paste. The palate has super intense dark-plum and blackberry flavor with a plush, deep and velvety tannin texture. Builds assertively and delivers such richness at the finish. Drink now.

The 2016 Schulz Shiraz comes from northern Barossa, near Koonunga Hill. It's full-bodied and concentrated but more perfumed than powerful, with seductive notes of mint, mixed raspberries and blueberries and tea leaves. The fresh, vibrant fruit might surprise some tasters, but the tannins are soft and supple, caressing rather than confronting. While approachable now, this wine should drink well for over a decade.
