The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin Village, picked on 30 September from several vineyards with 20% whole cluster fruit, has much more fruite on the nose compared to the generic red with abundant dark cherries and raspberry scents. The palate is well balanced with slightly chalky tannin, crisp acidity, black rather than red fruit with a tightly wound, brief finish that just needs more roundness and sustain. Still, this is a step up from the Bourgogne Rouge. Dec 2017, www.robertparker.com
