The 2016 Marsannay Clos du Roy showed brilliantly from bottle, bursting from the glass with notes of cassis, spices, plums and cherries. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, lavishly textural, succulent and concentrated, with a fine-grained chassis of tannin cloaked in an exuberant core of fruit. This is one of the more gourmand bottlings in the Audoin cellars this year.

Quite intense nose. Juicy fruit with lots of acidity. Much more backward than the Longeroies. May turn out to be VGV . (JR)
