Tasting notes
Négociant wine. Sample seems a bit oxidised though there is a lot of concentrated fruit here. Chewy and serious. Difficult to rate because of sample condition. (JR)

(close to 14% alcohol): Bright ruby-red. Very ripe aromas of blackberry, blueberry and chocolate. Dense, thick wine with strong soil tones and a saline high-pH character, with primary fruit in the background today. An ultraripe version of this vineyard but still maintains adequate acidity and finishes with a firm tannic spine.
The 2016 Fixin 1er Cru Clos du Chapitre was very tight on the nose and needed more encouragement in the glass compared to the village cru. The palate is medium-bodied, rounded in texture, plump in the mouth with mulberry and dark plum toward the finish. Quite sensual for a Fixin, this is a well-crafted Fixin that will benefit from a couple of years in bottle.
