Tasting notes
(from clay-rich soil with rocks): Bright yellow with green highlights. Aromas and flavors of lemon, lime and crushed stone. Juicy, penetrating and very dry (just 1 g/l r.s.), finishing with a lemony tartness and good grip. This wine is both fresher and leaner than it was from barrel a year ago, when it conveyed a much more exotic character.

The 2015 Saint Aubin 1er Cru Les Combes, matured in 25% new oak, has a very pleasant bouquet with touches of hazelnut and smoke infusing the citrus fruit, a subtle almost fudge-like sweetness just emerging with time, though it maintains its delineation. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry. There is a playfulness here, very well balanced, a little fatness from the growing season, yet I love the white peach and apricot-tinged finish that lingers in the mouth. This is simply excellent.
Pear and a whiff of banana on the nose. Less citrussy and more exotic than the Charmois, with yellow fruit and banana flavors dominating. In a fat, old-viney style but a bit warmer and less gripping than the Charmois.
