(these east-facing vines are planted on a meter of clay over chalky limestone, a situation Weber describes as "like Volnay Clos des Chênes and Caillerets but a bit higher"): Healthy dark red. Pungent aromas of crushed rock, spicy oak (30% new) and coffee torrefaction. Richer than the Duresses, showing good sweetness to its creamy black fruit flavors leavened by an element of medicinal reserve and piquant minerality. An impressive, tactile Monthélie, finishing pure and persistent.
