2002 En Chamberlin Vineyard Syrah

Full ruby-red. Aromas of dark berries, gunflint, dark chocolate and celery seed, with a note of woodsmoke. Concentrated, sweet and expansive, but without quite the complexity or dimension of this winery's other 2002 syrah bottlings. Notes of fresh and roasted berries carry through to the ripe finish.

Lacking the expanse of the Coccinelle, the dark fruit-scented 2002 Syrah En Chamberlin Vineyard displays loads of tightly wound blackberries. Medium-bodied and focused, it should be drunk between 2007 and 2012. Apr 2006, www.robertparker.com
