The 2016 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos des Thorey, a monopole of the domaine, is 100% whole bunch this year. The nose felt a little disjointed compared to others, and the fruit felt more subdued. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit and fine acidity, but it feels a little rustic and monotone toward the finish. I prefer the 2015 to the 2016 with respect to this vineyard, but maybe there will be some melioration by the time of bottling.
