There are two barrels of the 2016 Musigny Grand Cru, one new and one used, 100% whole bunch. There is much more gusto on the nose compared to the Bonnes-Mares, with upfront, expressive red cherry, wild strawberry and cold stone aromas, later complemented by wilted rose petals and bay leaf. The palate is medium-bodied, but there is much more body and presence here compared to the Bonnes-Mares: fine tannin, just the right amount of salinite with a complex and sustained finish. There is a nobility about this Musigny, and that is what we expect to find in a bottle. Superb. Dec 2017, www.robertparker.com

About the producer
Based south of Nuits-Saint-Georges in Prémeaux-Prissey, Domaine de la Vougeraie was created in 1999, grouping all of Jean-Claude Boisset’s holdings under one name. The property has a total 40 hectares of vines, with extensive holdings in Vougeot as well as plots in six Grands Crus.
