Tasting notes
The 2016 Morey-Saint-Denis Vieilles Vignes unfurls in the glass with a lovely bouquet of cherries, black raspberries, dark chocolate, Indian spices and rose petals. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, broad and satiny, with an ample core of fruit, wonderful old-vine concentration and tangy acids, concluding with a sapid, penetrating finish. This is a superb Morey and might just be Jouan's finest village cuvée this year.

Baked red fruit with spices and something a little leathery on the palate. Sieved tannins give a smooth, woolly sort of texture. (RH)
About the producer

The wines of Henri & Philippe Jouan fly under the radar – and, with the current quantities produced (from just three hectares of vines), this is unlikely to change any time soon.
