Tasting notes
The 2016 Saint Aubin Derrière Chez Edouard ler Cru has a well defined, quite effervescent bouquet with cranberry, raspberry coulis and subtle loamy aromas. The palate is medium bodied with crunchy red fruit, slightly rigid at the moment, backward with gentle grip and a slightly austere finish. Give this red Saint Aubin a couple of years in bottle. Tasted at the Domaine Direct Tasting in London.

The 2016 Saint Aubin 1er Cru Derrière Chez Edouard was more closed and broody compared to the Clos des Meix in barrel. The palate is fresh and saline on the entry, with traces of sour lemon and peach skin, moderate depth with a brisk and lively finish that compensates for the laconic aromatics. I would grant this a couple of years in bottle to allow time for the nose to develop.
