Tasting notes
The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard is a beautiful wine. Dark, ample and layered, the 2015 has aged exquisitely. It’s a big wine, but ripeness and oak imprint are totally integrated. Crème de cassis, licorice, menthol and dark chocolate all meld together in the glass. Ripe, elegant tannins pull it all together on the close.

Haunting aromas of terracotta, blackberries, plums and sweet tobacco. Very complex nose. Full body, super silky tannins, spices and ripe fruit. Ripe and compressed tannins. A reserved finish. More precise. A sensational wine. Cooler and more defined than the 2013.

Another perfect wine is the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon and readers wanting to know the heights this vineyard can hit need to try this wine. As with all these latest 2015s, this is no shrinking violet and boasts huge notes of blueberries, flowers, graphite, and incense. With a deep, full-bodied style on the palate, masses of tannin, yet not a hard edge to be found and perfect balance, it’s another majestic, profound wine from this team. One of the most thrilling tastings I was able to do for this report, these incredible wines from Realm are made by the talented Frenchman, Benoit Touquette. These are true blockbuster, magical wines I wish every reader could taste.
