(from a full yield): Pale yellow. Aromas of white peach and white flowers. Juicy, spicy and tightly wound; less dense and deep than the Garenne, in a more lemony style. Sappy and juicy but without quite the concentration and thickness of the Garenne. Finishes broad but a bit dry.

The 2016 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Referts, which comes under the domaine, not Maison Jadot, has quite a potent bouquet with scents of honeysuckle, jasmine, citrus fruit and apple blossom. I like the energy conveyed here—more than the La Garenne for example. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry, quite rich and slightly honeyed in texture with subtle spice and lemongrass notes surfacing on the very slightly oxidative finish.
Cask sample. ‘Allocation exhausted’, the note said; production was so small. Smells more cedary than the Chalumaux, as if the oak had had a different effect. Cedary on the palate too, very crisp, a little austere yet super-pure and long. (JH)

Louis Jadot is arguably the most consistent négociant house in Burgundy. It has managed to straddle both the entry-level and fine wine market, while retaining respect in both.
