Tasting notes
Silky smooth and concentrated in the glass with a deep purple core. Black and blue fruit leap from the glass followed by smoked meat and a streak of stony minerality. Lovely weight; masses of concentrated fruit that is finely detailed and beautifully balanced by fresh acidity and luxurious tannins. Finishes with a real flourish, hinting at great things to come but so drinkable now. Lovely.

Bright violet. Ripe cherry, cassis and olive on the highly fragrant, smoke-accented nose. Plush and open-knit, offering sweet black and blue fruit, spicecake and mocha flavors firmed by a spine of juicy acidity. Rounded tannins shape the finish, which lingers with strong, spice-driven tenacity.
Youthful purple. Deep-pitched aromas of fresh black and blue fruits and candied violet are lifted by a peppery nuance. Dense, ripe and gently sweet in the mouth, offering sappy blackberry and violet pastille flavors that show very good energy. Finishes on a repeating pepper note, with strong persistence and harmonious tannins building steadily.
About the producer

The little-known Domaine Jean-Claude Marsanne, based in the heart of Saint-Joseph in Mauves, makes some of the Northern Rhône’s best-value wines.
