Tasting notes
(from three parcels of vines, in Les Fremières, Aux Echanges and Les Maladières, ranging in age from 6 to 95 years): Good medium red. Fresh aroma of wild raspberry complicated by exotic notes of peach and lees. Juicy and fresh on the palate, and tighter than the village Morey; less opulent but more gripping. Still a bit youthfully clenched on the back end but I find the notes of vineyard peach and blood orange fascinating.

The 2013 Chambolle-Musigny les Cabots has an open bouquet that is well defined and infused with orange zest, blackberry leaf and a touch of wet granite. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm tannins on the entry. This is all about focus and linearity, the acidity well judged with a touch of black pepper furnishing the linear finish. This is an assured les Cabots, one that should turn out to be a very “correct” Chambolle.
From three parcels. 30% whole bunch, 30% new oak. Very rich and heady. Good raciness underneath. Very beguiling. Firm finish with just a hint of something green. (JR)
