Tasting notes
Bottled with 11.8% alcohol, the beautiful 2014 Saumur Champigny Franc de Pied shows a radiant crimson color and opens as a clear, delicate and spicy as well as floral Champigny. Silky, elegant and fresh on the palate, this is a juicy Cabernet Franc with fine and spicy tannins, great finesse and an impressive, stimulating salty finish. Tasted on a warm summer day during a lunch with producers in Saumur.

From averaging 40 years old vines the purple colored 2014 Franc de Pied offers a deep, ripe and rich but also pure bouquet of dark berries, cherries, licorice, violets, crushed stones and refreshing phenols. Full-bodied, round and elegant, this is a mouth-filling, dense and mineral, finesse-full Cabernet Franc with fine tannins; it has a firm yet refreshing structure and a long and complex finish. The wine reveals a tight structure, but also a great purity and complexity. Great aging potential.
