Tasting notes
Always 100% Grenache, from a fabulous terroir located right in the heart of the appellation, right next to Rayas, the 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape Lieu Dit Pignan is jaw droppingly good in the vintage, and I was shocked by its level of depth and concentration. Its deep purple color is followed by awesome notes of juicy black cherries, black raspberries, violets and tons floral aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, seamless, elegant and layered, with more mid-palate depth and texture, and just about every other wine in the vintage, hats off to the team at Chapoutier for this incredible effort!

The star of the show was the 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape Lieu Dit Pignan. Inky colored, full-bodied, rich and shockingly concentrated in the vintage, this beauty offers of a stunning bouquet of plums, blueberries, honey and violets. It’s one of the true gems in the vintage and will have 10-15 years of longevity.
