Bottled. Lightish cherry red. A slight rubbery reduction at the moment but surely temporary. Underneath that is the sweetness of cherry fruit and a touch of vanilla. This will be a lovely, rounded, sweet-fruited whole with a little longer in bottle. Moderate length and mouth-wateringly fresh finish. Tannins perfectly judged, just still al dente. (JH)

(made from young vines planted in 1998 and 1999 on white limestone soil at the top of Clos de l'Arlot): Bright medium red. Alluring perfumed scents of red cherry, raspberry and flowers. Juicy and suave, showing a cranberry freshness complicated by riper hints of torrefaction. Offers lovely verve and definition for the vintage, finishing with suave, dusty tannins and a piquant lingering note of cranberry.

Made from younger vines from Clos de l'Arlot. 2015 is the first vintage of this cuvée to be classified as premier cru. Also a bit reduced. Sweet start and very polished. Just a tad lacking life –but perhaps this is a sample thing? (JR)

(destemmed; this is the new name for the wine made from Domaine de l'Arlot's young vines in Clos de l'Arlot; 40% new oak): Bright red-ruby. Black cherry, licorice and violet scents are lifted by high-pitched brown spices. Concentrated, sweet and serious, offering noteworthy depth of flavor and medicinal reserve to its black fruit flavors. Really saturates the mouth and spreads out on the back end, finishing with substantial dusty, fine-grained tannins. The estate pruned these younger vines shorter than previously, with the lower bunch count bringing greater ripeness.
